SigEp Shakes

On September 6, 2016 the Ohio Theta chapter introduced a new philanthropy event to campus: SigEp Shakes. Held on the chapter’s patio, brothers served up five different flavors of milkshakes topped with whipped cream and a cherry to Cincinnati students. SigEp Shakes was intentionally designed to be a new event to help promote for the chapter’s larger philanthropic efforts. Namely, promoting the partnership between Ohio Theta and the Fuller Center for Housing, which has been strong since the chapter first organized a service trip with them half a decade ago.

After a successful social media marketing campaign, the brothers were pleased with one of the largest turnouts for a philanthropic event in recent years. The brothers even had get more ice cream only one hour into the philanthropy. SigEp Shakes’ goal of selling 400 milkshakes and $1200 in revenue was shattered that Tuesday evening. The chapter ended up selling over 500 shakes and generating over $1800 for this year’s service trip to Hammond Louisiana.

SigEp Shakes exemplifies the Ohio Theta spirit, chapter buy in, and strong leadership the chapter seeks to promote. Over a dozen brothers donated blenders for the night, more than thirty helped work at the event in some way, and each undergrad positively impacted SigEp Shakes in promoting it across campus. Furthermore, SigEp Shakes also aligned with the recruiting principals used by this years Rush Committee, by having a philanthropy event before recruitment week. We were pleased to welcome several individuals to our chapter who accepted their bids after this event.
Starting off the semester strong, Ohio Theta is using the momentum from this event to make future endeavors bigger and better. The chapter is looking forward to two more philanthropy events this semester, SigEp Stromboli on October 25 and Ginger Greek from November 29 through December 1.
